The following description appears on the back of the card:
Amaryllis, the common name for the genus Hippeastrum, is a large perennial bulb native to tropical and subtropical areas in South America with more than 90 identified species. It is easily identified by its showy funnel-shaped flowers arranged in umbelliform inflorescences on a hollow flower stem, reaching 12’-30” tall. Hippeatsum cultivars come in solid reds, whites and pink and striped variations which make it an ideal Christmas flower. In the language of flowers it symbolizes pride and beaut
